When it comes to kicking, breaking records seems to be a tradition for the Calvaruso family. And now, the most recent offering from the family tree, Nic Calvaruso (11), has topped two of his older brother Vito’s records.
On Friday October 18, Calvaruso broke the career record mark with his 23 made field goals.
“It’s pretty cool knowing I made history and knowing I broke two of his records as a junior with another year left,” Calvaruso said.
Even though he toppled his brother’s records, he values them, and he looks up to them.
“I try to be like them. They both kicked in high school and then moved on to college. I just want to kinda do the same; I look up to them.”
With excitement from friends and families about snagging a spot on the record board, Calvaruso remained laser focused after successfully kicking his 23rd field goal.
“No celebration. [I] Gotta stay humble,” he said.
Staying humble seemed to work for Calvaruso: just one week later, he added another record to his profile.
He now also holds the most career points from a kicker with 147 made. With two records broken already and the potential of more to come, Calvaruso is keeping his leg warm.
“We’ll see if we can get anymore next year,” he stated.
